Having a good second-brain , knowledge system to rely upon in the digital age to interface / provide information to tools like Dot by New.computer

Notion seems like a great place for teams to collaborate and have a collective hive-mind

Obsidian let’s me focus on the Text and necessary tools that only times

Weighing the pro & cons for migrating to Obsidian

The Migration Process

Why Notion gave me a big crap about writing text - I am a very good at Typing. I have a peak typing speed of 170 and 120 average speed

Notion, cloud sync approach as wasn’t working out very well for me, where I had a lot of unstable internet connection, very few lines the text that I’ve written kept going haywire and messing up my thought process because I have to back and understand what text wasn’t saved and add it again. It was a time-consuming, trivial and very ineffective

Building Plugins and Customisation - notion always would require a network layer to make any sort of customisation and doesn’t offer great plugins for customising the interface and features offered but obsidian on the other hand has a myriad of plugins for almost all use cases and also make it easier to build a plugin

Leaving the fancy stuff behind and taking a bit minimalistic approach - with notion I obsessed on having a the perfect icon + background banner for almost all the pages and downloaded over 100+ svgs for all the pages that I’ve made. In retrospect it wasn’t worth it in my opinion even though it improve the aesthetics
